The Family Institute is committed to research practices as an integral part of both its approach to Psychotherapy and to Teaching and Learning. We recognise the importance of both evidence based practices and of creating contexts for practice based evidence to emerge. For this reason we endeavour to equip students with a robust knowledge and ability to read, critique and engage actively in research practices from a comprehensive range of relevant methodologies.
The staff of The Family Institute are involved in a number of Research Projects and have made connections and links with other groups of colleagues nationally and internationally, working in psychotherapy and related fields. Our research orientation sits broadly within a social constructionist epistemology and draws on action research methodology and the development of communities of practice and learning.
